When is it not a good idea to build a house?
When you don’t have clear plans of what you want it to look like.
When is it not a good idea to hire someone?
When you don’t have a clear idea of what you want them to do.
When is it not a good idea to set up your CRM?
When you don’t have a clear vision of what you want it to achieve.
You get the picture.
To some they may just be buzz-words that “management” toss around, to others they’re the cornerstone of the business.
You need to know what you want the project to achieve before starting it. This is certainly not limited to CRM. You don’t need to fluff it in management speak. Simply articulate the results that you expect to see at the end of the project. That’s the vision; thinking about the end.
You can always fall-back on it to help you make decisions whilst you’re doing the day-to-day work. You should constantly ask yourself, does what I’m doing right now fit in with the vision?
Communicate the Vision
If you’re considering implementing a CRM system, it’s important that the vision is really clear and everyone touched by the project needs to know what it is. Without it, you could end up with an amazing system…. doing something that doesn’t actually help your business.
And if you don’t communicate your vision with your team from the outset, you could end up with an amazing system…. and nobody knows why they have to use it.
Every successful CRM project starts with a clear vision of what you want it to accomplish for the business. So, make sure you do this before you get distracted by features and benefits of any individual system.
