Well that depends entirely on your business.
January often sees a surge in recruitment for all businesses and departments who have been considering a new appointment.
But how do you know if recruiting for a Salesforce Administrator is the right thing for your business?
Well there are a few key factors you should consider to determine if this is the right route or if you should consider working with a partner to provide a Salesforce Administrator or Consultant.
How many Salesforce licences does your business have?
If you have over 50 Licences, Salesforce themselves recommend a full time administrator.
However if you have less than 50 it may be that a part-time appointment is more appropriate, although that of course comes with similar recruitment and employment costs if undertaken as a part-time staff appointment.
So with less than fifty licences it is often going to be more appropriate to work with a partner who offers an on-demand Salesforce Administration service.
What stage of using Salesforce your business is at?
This is another element that can will into play.
If you are about to take on a large new configuration project that is going to rework a significant proportion of your Salesforce platform and how it fits with your business processes; then having an internal resource available to manage this process could be a good fit.
However, if you are already fairly well established in how you use Salesforce – or are just using it in a straight-forward way; then just having the ability to call on an administrator or consultant when you have particular queries or to help to pro-actively identify improvements may be more useful.
Existing knowledge and availability
What level of Salesforce support you need will also be dependent on:
- What knowledge your team already has of the system and its configuration?
- How available they are to undertake any tasks around the administration of the system – depending on their other responsibilities?
The answers to these questions will help guide the remaining resource required and if this can be filled internally or is something that can be supported by a partner.
Do you already have a partner who knows your configuration?
If you are already working with a Salesforce partner that you know and trust, maybe they set-up your initial configuration, or have just been supporting you for some time now and understand your business.
Either way if this kind of relationship and knowledge of your platform exist then furthering that partnership to use them as your administrator too could be the best solution.
This would also mean if any future customisations are required they are already involved and understanding your developing business and processes to expedite those kind of projects.
Budget and level of support needed
An average Salesforce Administrator salary in the UK, according to cwjobs.co.uk, is £37,500 per annum.
Whereas working with a partner to just provide on-demand support, how and when you need it, can range from around £4,500 to £23,000 per annum depending on your needs.
So your budget along side how much support is needed can also help determine the most appropriate route for your business.
So – Is it better to use an Expert Partner or Recruit Internally to support Salesforce?
All in all it depends on how much support you need, which is often linked to how many users you have and how complex your configuration is.
